Ø Assembly Level User Notes
EMPARTweb will provide a method to allow users to create, edit, delete, and print assembly level user notes. A new frame in the catalog tree will be added to notify the user of existing notes, and provide access to a notes window where the user can view, create, edit or delete a note.
Ø Part Level Attachments
EMPARTweb will provide the user with direct access to part level attachments within the IPL. By displaying a paper clip icon, the user will be notified that a part has an associated attachment. The icon will be located in the first column of the IPL data frame corresponding with the applicable part.
Ø Bookmarks
EmpartWeb allows the user to bookmark an IPL for retrieval at a later time. Bookmarks can be specific to a user or shared among all user of a manufacturer or distributor site. These bookmarks can be deleted when they are no longer needed.
Ø Supercession and Prior Part Information
EMPARTweb supports part Supercession and Prior part information. If a part either has a superceding part (is replaced by a part), or a prior part (replaced a part) a visual indicator will be displayed to the user, both in the Illustrated Parts List and in the Standard Part Search results display.
The user will be able to view the following information regarding the superceding or prior part: Qty required to replace the part in question, description of the superceding or prior part, note associated with superceding or prior part, indication of mandatory or discretionary replacement requirements for the superceding or prior part, superceding or prior part unit of measure, visual indicators that the superceding or prior parts themselves had superceding or prior parts. The user is able to walk the chain of superceding or prior parts, and can add a superceding or prior part to a Shopping Cart from a Supercession or Prior part information window.
Ø Part-Focused Standard Search
EMPARTweb provides a part-focused search, targeted to easily locate a distinct part. A part can be located using Part name/number and or the Part description. The user can further restrict the search to only specified models. To ensure the user can understand the part within context of the catalog hierarchy, the user is enabled to view the parent assembly information associated with the part level by level.
The user can directly add the located part to a shopping cart, or view it within an illustrated parts list. If the user chooses to view the part within the IPL a tree view of the part associated with its assembly will be displayed to the user. The part and its lineage will be highlighted in the tree. Within the IPL the parts list will automatically be scrolled to display the first instance of the part, as the first part on the part’s list. The part will also flash.
Ø Where Used Search
EmpartWeb provides a Where Used Search for a part. The Where Used search displays a list of all the models that contain the selected part. The user can then click on one of the models in the list and go directly to that model.
Ø Model-Focused Standard Search
EMPARTweb provides a model-focused search, targeted to easily locate a distinct model. Once the model results are displayed the user can access a tree view of the selected model, where the selected model appears as the first node in the tree, with the first level of subordinate assemblies below the model node. The user is able to manually drill down the tree if he/she wishes to view other nodes below the first level of subordinate assemblies.
Ø Opening Screen and Layout
The user will save a step by no longer being required to open EMPARTweb and then navigate to the Search page. EMPARTweb will open with the Search Page as the first page presented to the user. The Search Page has been rearranged to display the more often used Model Search Function before the less often used Part Search function.
Descriptions providing the user with basic information about textual and image page links will be displayed to the user as the user points over these links.
Ø Lay-Out and Window Behavior
EMPARTweb remembers the user’s sizing of the Catalog Tree, Attachment, IPL Image, and part-list windows and maintains this sizing throughout the user's session.
Ø Hot Spots
Hot Spot outlining will be available for IPL images. By default, the outlines will not be visible, but the user will be able to turn on the outline view by pressing the ‘Toggle Hot Spots’ button on the image toolbar. EMPARTweb remembers the state of the Hot Spot visibility and maintains it throughout the site. If they are turned on in one area, they will be on in every other applicable area, throughout the user's session. When a Hot Spot is selected, the associated part line entry in the Data Frame will be highlighted.
Ø Image Rotation
Images displayed within IPLs can be rotated left or right in 30 degree increments.
Ø Add Parts to a Shopping Cart from Additional Locations in the Application
EMPARTweb enables the user to add a part to the Shopping Cart from a Standard Part Search Result, and from a Supercession or Prior window.
